PROJECT EXTRA PLUS PRESCHOOL is
a year-round program for children ages 33 months through
kindergarten, and is open from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m Monday through
Friday. This program provides for a full day of educational and
recreational programming. The Family Center's Preschool Program is
licensed for 35 children and provides developmentally - suitable
activities that are age - appropriate as well as engaging.
Subsidized child care is available.
PROJECT EXTRA PLUS is a state-licensed school-age child care program
available to parents who work or are in school and need daily out of
school child care. The program is available to children ages 5 to
12, at two sites. The Family Center program operates Monday through
Friday from the time that the public schools closes to 7:00 p.m. on
school days and 7:30 a.m. until 5:30 p.m. on vacation days. The
Family Center site is EEC Licensed for 91 children, and a typical
program schedule includes homework help and tutoring, social
recreation, crafts, sports, computer training, and swimming. A
special program for 5 and 6 year olds is available. Transportation
and snack are provided. Project Extra Plus is also provided at the
Freedman School on Cherokee Drive in Springfield. The
program operates from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on the days that school
is in session, and is handicapped accessible. Subsidized child care
is available at both sites.
FAMILY CENTER CITY CAMP is a eight week day camp/day care program
designed for children between the ages of 5 and 13 years. This
program provides a full day of computers, arts & crafts, drama,
swimming lessons, sports training, dance, drill and 4 other
recreational programming. FCC Camp consists of 3 encampments lasting
two weeks each, for both boys and girls. A daily lunch and local and
out of town trips are provided.
CAMP MISHNOAH is a six week overnight camp accredited by the
American Camping Association. Located in Holland Massachusetts,
Mishnoah provides 3 encampments lasting twelve days each for girls 6
to 13 years. Founded on Indian principles and legends, Camp
Mishnoah's program structure includes arts & crafts, swimming,
canoeing, fishing, story telling and council ring ceremonies by the
campfire. Camp Mishnoah celebrated it's 70th Anniversary in 1998.
THE FAMILY CENTER'S MEMBERSHIP PROGRAM is a drop-in program for all
members of the family. The program is available to ages 7 to adult
and is open Tuesday to Friday 2:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. on school days and
2:30 PM to
5:00 p.m. on vacation days. Membership Programs include specialized
Boys & Girls Clubs of America. National programs,
sports and games, recreation, fitness, arts and crafts, leadership
development, computer and homework help. Special Teen program
activities are scheduled daily.
